Body Part Casting

I decided to cast my cheek because I have some interesting texture there on my skin. Unfortunately, the shape of my jawline and chin didn’t quite get expressed as well as I had hoped, and now my castings kinda look like breast implants. :p

At the Comox Vallery Art Gallery, I was helping Nina Wedberg Thulin with her new installation by carving away and filling in imperfections in some hands that we cast during class. There were 20 hands in total, with a few double or triple casts. It was really fun! It took about one and a half days to complete all of them, but I was hopping in and out a few times to work at the front desk and show people around the gallery as well.
