I obviously struggled with the red drawing for this, partially because I picked a ridiculously non-descript item, and partially because I was already tired when I started the drawing. I continued with what I had been working with in class, which was putting a colour wash to block in the general shape and shadows of the objects before going in with pen and then finishing it off with ink again to darken some parts. I think I’ve found a process that works for me in that. It’s a lot less scary to start drawing (especially in pen ink) when you’ve already laid the foundation. It’s hard to stray extremely far from the plan after the wash is down.
